In 1913, the professor I.S.Gheorghiu designed the first project of electrification for Sinaia-Pietrosita track and a project for the extension of electrification on Sinaia-Preadeal transom.

The law no. 2749/ August 31st, 1929 is published in the Official Gazette no. 170/ August 3rd, 1929. Thus the Ministry of Communication, Industry and Commerce was authorized to lease the project of the electrification for Bucuresti-Brasov track, to the engineer Dimitrie Leonida and the group of Romanian-English banks- "British and Foreign Utilities Development Corporation".

The General CFR Direction sustained that the electrification for Bucharest-Brasov track, as a principal method of enhancement of the transport capacity represented the main priority. Some laws for the beginning of the project are voted in 1929, 1934 and 1942, at the Romanian Government proposal.

The commission, established in 1932 at the initiative of General CFR Direction, chaired by the professor Karpen Vasilescu (Rector of the Polytechnic Institute in Bucharest), sustained the project of electrification for Bucharest-Brasov track.

"The Direction of Electrification", as part as General CFR Direction, chaired by the engineer Dimitrie Leonida, is established on September 12th 1942. Electrification of Bucharest-Brasov track was begun on the basis of the law no. 612/1942; unfortunately, because of the War the project was abandoned.

The beginning of electrification works on Bucharest-Brasov track was decided in 1959.

The electrification section Brasov-Predeal, the first track with normal gauge in Romania, was opened on December 9th, 1965.

The electrification section Predeal-Campina was opened on April 20th, 1966.

The circulation on Bucuresti-Brasov track was opened on February 16th, 1969, in the most favorable technical-economic and energetic system: single-phase alternating current of 50 Hz industrial frequency Hz at 25 kW voltage.
