Brief news from Ministry of Transport

Partnership between the Ministry of Transport and Superior Educational Institutions.

    Ministry of Transport concluded a partnership agreement with the Polytechnic University and Technical Construction University of Bucharest. These actions are included within the Ministry of Transport training program in the railway field of and the Educational Ministry reform program. The purpose is to create a team of professionals on activity branches. Proposals will be done in order to improve the educational programs so that we should obtain the qualified professionals depending on the economic agents’ demands that work with the Ministry of Transport.
    In order to have a more efficient collaboration, the Ministry of Transport will provide the necessary technical specifications and will propose the norms and provisions applicable by the universities involved in this process that will submit their due diligence to the Ministry of Education. Thus, students specializing in activities subordinated to the Ministry of Transport will be able to apply and elaborate their diploma projects in these units.
    The Ministry of Transport also decided to annually transmit to the two universities concerned, a list with the specialists that are about to be employed, together with the recruitment and selection criteria.
    This collaboration has as purpose this blending the procedures and practice within the field of professional training with the standards stipulated in the European Union programs.


Those who retired from CFR met the Minster of Transport

    Representatives of the retired people union trades within CFR and other transport units met on October this year, the Minister of Transport, Miss Daniela Anca Boiagiu. Gabriela Ion, president of the Transport Health Insurance House, and George Buruiana, general manager of the Freight Transportation Company, were also present to this reunion.
    After the discussions they had, there had been decided that the retired union representatives should participate at the activities of the Administrative Board with the Transport Health Insurance House (CAST), as stipulated by the present legislation. In this sense, the bylaw of the CAST will be changed as well as the members of the Administrative Board.
    The Ministry of Transport expressed its will of supporting from now on the retired people unions of CFR . In order to do that, some provisions of the Railway man Bylaw that will have as aim a material protection of the retired people of CFR in certain cases as death for example. The possibility of creating some cantinas was also analyzed. Another project proposes that the Ministry of Labor and Social Welfare should insure for all retired people from CFR, a retribution in housekeeping activities.
    The Retired People Association will receive from the National Railway Company CFR-SA a real estate in which they will be able to activate. Supported by the units created after the restructuring process from SNCFR, the Association will be equipped with computers and office supplies that will insure a good activity process for the Association.


Carriages for the passengers’ luggage

    The Minister of Transport, Miss Anca Boiagiu, stated, during a recent press conference, that each tourism agency is now allowed to let old trains for a price of $ 30/km. She also mentioned that the Ministry of Transport provide for those who use railway transportation, another package of services. Thus, all the accelerated and rapid trains will be equipped with a supplementary restaurant or bar wagon. Rehabilitation of this type of wagons was made within the Public Wagons’ Repairs and Maintenance Titu Company – SIRV, one of the subsidiaries of the National Public Transportation Company.
    Another facility is offered for the travelers that arrive in North Railway Station. They will be the beneficiaries of a new way of carrying their luggage from the train to the car – special carriages led by a specialized agent , for the amount of ROL 10.000. The Minister of Transport added that in the future this service will be provided for free, so that Romania should alienate to the European standards.


Official opening of the Bucharest-Pitesti highway

    On October 3, 2000, the highway Bucharest-Pitesti was opened for the international and national traffic, after termination of modernization works financially supported by European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (BERD) and the Romanian Government.
    In order that the traffic should be safe and fluent, certain rules have been established by the authorities, rules that the drivers must obey while using it:

    To prevent robbery, theft and vandalism of the equipment on the highway (metallic bares, fences, signaling panels, etc.), AND hired a special security agency that will insure the security in the area.
