Modernity and Hygiene in the Railway Stations

The National Railway Comapany CFR-SA, helped by the Patrimony Department has begun since August this year, an ample program of modernizing and cleaning all the railway stations in Romania. From the total 1.096 railway stations, 640 are already cleaned up and modernized, 387 undergoing this process and only 69 have left unattached. The majority of the cleaning works are performed by specialized companies and the railway personnel is in charge with the maintenance process.
CFR Bucharest Zonal Department differs a little as from the other stations, because of its biggest triage the Capitals belt highway- that represents in fact a concrete plate used both in the public and freight transportation. The activity area of this particular CFR Department spreads out on 123 railway stations.
The cleaning works were finalized in September 30, 2000, in all garage stations that have two up to ten CF stations: Bucharest-Giurgiu, Ploiesti-Urziceni, Ploiesti-Maneciu, Ploiesti-Slanic, Bucharest belt highway, Bucharest- Oltenita, Bucharest Baneasa- Breaza, Bucharest-Pitesti, Bucharest-Urziceni, Urziceni-Slobozia, Titu-Petrosita, Ploiesti-Targoviste, Bucharest-Videle, Videle-Giurgiu, Titu-Targoviste and another series of isolated railway stations. We have planed all sorts of repairing works for buildings, roofs, top roofs, hydro-insulation devices, toilets and service rooms, platforms and waiting rooms, intimating the interiors, improvement of the light systems, etc.
On the area of this zonal department, the management set up a list of priorities as i.e.:
a) Bucharest North area, B group: termination of works for the façade of the building, replacing of windows, the hall was arranged, and the commercial area of the square is about to be architectural planed. The entire light system of the North railway station was improved, both outside and inside.
b) Bucur Obor Railway Station: repairing of the façade of the building and of the roof; windows have been replaced with termopan frames. The entrance hall and the waiting room have been painted and equipped with new furniture items. The platforms have been paved with tiles. The thermal plant have been installed and at last but not at least, the light system has been improved.
c) Bucharest Baneasa Railway station, protocol station for the railway activity, is used on special occasions as welcoming the Romanian and foreigner politicians. The modernization works and the cleaning up had as goal especially the rearranging of the official hall, meaning painting, replacing of windows, replacing of the old furniture, and improvement of sanitary groups. Also, painting of the façade of the building and the pavement of the platform have been completed. The green area before the official hall have also been improved. Special light balls have been installed along the platform.
d) Grant Bridge House: the repairing and the cleaning up works are under way of developing; just the following projects have been completed: strength of the building, thermal plant installation, re-dividing the interior in offices, rooms for the unions, bedrooms and conference room.In parallel with this program we are also undergoing another program for the improvement of the working conditions for our employees and the preparation for the cold season.
