International relationships at CFR
CFR- still the vice-president of UIC (International Railway Union)As we already knew, on the occasion of the 59th General meeting of the International Railway Union from November 1999, the Romanian Railway Company was appointed vice-president of the UIC for 2000-2001.
In this quality, CFR participated, by its representative, Mihai Necolaiciuc- general manager of the CFR, to the UIC Executive Committee works.
Mihai Necolaiciuc has been elected president of CFR-SA as well as president of the Administration Board since June 17, 2000.
CFR wants to honorably complete this assignment of being the vice-president of UIC, assignment granted by the General Meeting of the Shareholders. In this sense, several debates were organized on August 24 this year, in Paris, by the UIC General Department and CFR representatives.
As a result of these debates, the general manager of the CFR-SA took the initiative of dialoging on this subject with Hungarian Railways MAV and the Polish Railways PKP , taking into account the fact that PKP and MAV represent in this Executive Committee of the UIC, together with CFR, the Eastward and Central European countries.
They entertained the idea that CFR should terminate its assignment as vice-president of UIC. The same proposals were made in writing by the other railway companies from the Eastward and Central Europe.
Thus, the proposal made by CFR will be included in the Agenda of the next UIC General Meeting of the Shareholders of November 23, 2000, all the conditions for CFR to close its contract with UIC being created.
Conference on the subject of transportation and energetic resources in the South-East Europe
Between 13-16 of September 2000, Mihai Necolaiciuc, general Manager of CFR-SA participated at the Conference about Transportation and Energetic Resources in the South-East Europe. This conference was organized by the Trade and Development Agency TDA from USA.
The purpose of this conference was to promote new projects for development of the infrastructure within the south-East Europe.
For the Romanian railways this meant a special opportunity in order to establish and continue the relationships with USA companies, with producers of railway equipment, with international financial institutions, with local sponsors interested in applying these programs.
