Aluminum-Thermy, at the Railways
In our country there are only a few companies specialized in the aluminum-thermy of the iron and copper. Among these there is also included QUARK IMPEX SRL, which collaboration with CFR becomes more and more substantial.
An encouraging evolution
Quark Impex SRL has been set up in year 1994.
It was beginning then a difficult way, which proved to be full of satisfactions,
materialized in notable achievements for the filed in which it is operating the
respective team.
"In 1998, starting from the expertise accumulated along the time by our
specialists, which are first class specialists, we have started to orient our
activity to the aluminum-thermy of the copper - Mr. Tudor Coman, the manager for
the company has declared. We have succeeded to elaborate the original recipes of
copper termit and we have tuned up a technology for their achievement. At our
debut, an important foreign company dominated the Romanian market. The ambition
to assert and our professionalism have been fructified successfully: the
successes recorded presently place us on the first places on the Romanian market
in the filed of the aluminum-thermy of the copper.
Currently, we can offer everything that is necessary for the achievement of the
welding by aluminum-thermy of copper; copper termit, graphite shapes dividers,
tightening paste, the electrodes with prats etc. An important element for the
achievement of the landing networks are these electrodes with prats. According
to the western technology, as landing electrodes there are not introduced
anymore pipes, but copper or steel electrodes where the copper is deposited (we
can deposit copper in the electric arch). We produce the electrodes:
practically, we cover the entire range of electrodes necessary for the welding
of the specific landing networks for the mobile telephony.
Still in 1998 our concerns in the field of steel aluminum-thermy have started
off. The strategy that we have adopted includes several stages and aims faster
ascension in this direction on the Romanian market.
The first stage is represented by the achievement of the steel termit. There is
next the application technology of the steel, with the necessary auxiliary
materials, tools and specialized devices in aluminum-thermic welding at the
railway tracks, underground track and trams. We would like to achieve
technological lines for the production, at the necessary level, of the termit,
of the auxiliary materials and of the specific machines, after which we are
trying to extend this aspect of the aluminum-thermy and another type of
applications: obtaining the semi-pure metals of the ferroalloys and of certain
bimetal; so, through surface aluminum-thermy reactions we are trying to
superpose the metals which are not usually welded. Given the expertise we have
gained, our future concerns will be oriented to the applications in the filed of
metallurgy."
Mr. Coman, the manager, has also declared that Quark Impex SRL company has
attended various competitions organized by the Ministry of Education and
Research, pursuant to which it has gained important projects. Therefore, in the
fall of year 2000 it has won the Relansin project having the theme the Steel
termit for the aluminum-thermy welding of the railway and tram tracks, and a
year later it has been assigned with the Amtrans project having the theme the
Romanian technology and materials for the construction by aluminum-thermy
welding of the rolling tracks for the underground, tram and train tracks.
Up to the present time, there have been finalized the works of the Relansin
project, thus obtaining the final homologation of the termit.
The aluminun-thermy of the copper
Currently, in the field of the aluminum-thermy
of the copper the specialists from Quark Impex SRL are able to execute any type
of welding required by the beneficiaries, as
well as any other products, among
which we can mention: aluminum-thermal powders, (copper termit) necessary for
welding the copper or other conductors made of copper with the iron plate,
conductors or bas of steel (coppered steel), the welding metal die, dividing
disks etc.
"With regard to the copper aluminum-thermy - Mr. Tudor Coman, the director,
shows -, we can offer various recipes of powder. I call them recipes because we,
when we are placed an order, we make a general assessment of the work and we
make a proposal to the beneficiary with the adequate solution for the respective
welding. Then we achieve from graphite the welding metal dies, which represent
the optimal technological solutions for solving the respective problem, and we
offer adequate dividing disks (made of nickel, aluminum and copper), which are
influencing the composition according to what he wants. The offer of our company
also includes: metallizing, priming the aluminum-thermy reactions at the
distance, the inclusion devices, bimetal assemblies etc."
The aluminum-thermy of the steel
In this type of welding, fructifying the
results of the researchers from the Relansin contracts 914/2000 and Amtrans IC
05, at the Quark Impex SRL company has been succeeded the execution of the
welded interweaves at various types of tracks: CF 49, Ri 60, NP4aS, Otelu Rosu,
as well as at the various possible combinations of them.
In fact, the special efforts of the research team have led to the preliminary
homologation of the aluminum-thermy welding of the tracks of CF 49, Ri 60, NP4aS
or OR types, and during the current year there are going to be homologated the
tracks CF 60 and CF 65. The last year, pursuant to the meeting of a specialty
commission, there has been issued the certificate of permanent homologation of
the product called termit of steel for the welding by aluminum-thermy , of the
tram and railway tracks, which is "signed" by SC Quark Impex SRL.
"With respect to the track welding, we are trying to meet the requirements
of our clients and to weld these types of tracks, MP4AS, which are used in the
railway and trams transport. The problems raised by this type of welding by
aluminum-thermy are complex, they differ from a type of track to another, and
their solving implies specific researches, the technology being adequate to each
type of track that should be joint.
Currently, we are closely approaching the achievement of certain joints of
various tracks and we are hoping that the current year to succeed to solve all
the problems that we have in these respect."
Finally, Mr. Tudor Coman, the manager, wanted to specify: " We would like
to become a notable presence on the Romanian aluminum-thermy market, especially
in the field of welding the railway tracks!"
