# Success for Siemens in Switzerland
Swiss Railways orders 35 storied motorcars
Swiss Railways (SBB) has ordered from Siemens Transportation Systems 35 storied motorcars for the urban trains from Zurich. The value of the contract is of almost 320 million Euro, the delivery of the motorcars starting in 2005 and being unfolded up to 2008.
The vehicles are formed of 4 units, with a central continuous corridor, having a length of 100 m and a width of 2.78 m and offering 396 seats and 600 places standing. The motorcar reach the maximal speed of 140 km/h, are ventilated, being also endowed with special toilets for the persons with handicap. The information system of the passengers is complex, enhancing the orientation.

The consortium formed by Syemens Transportation Systems and Kiepe Elektrik delivers 40 Combino trams with low floor to the Transport Company from Budapest
Siemens Transportation Systems (TS) and its consortium partner, Kiepe Elektrik, have received from the Transport Company BKV RT. Budapest a contract for the delivery of 40 Combino trams with low floor. The contract has been signed on April23, 2003, in Budapest. The value of the contract is of 159 million Euro. The Combino trams that are to be delivered in the Hungarian capital are the first that have been designed as vehicles with nine units.
Having a length of 53 meters and a width of 2.4 meters, the Combino trams offer the space for 351 passengers (72 seats) which are going to operate on the big boulevards of Budapest, where there are transported almost 200,000 passengers daily.
Siemens is responsible for the mechanic and hauling part (engine, gearing, and coupling), Kiepe Elektrik being in charge with the electric side.Siemens TS obtains the contract for the maintenance works for the motorcars from Sao Paulo
Siemens Transportation Systems (TS) has been assigned by the Company Trens Metropolitanos (CPTM) from Sao Paulo, Brazil, to take over the maintenance works for ten electric motorcars. Siemens TS will supply CPTM from Sao Paulo, a company of the government and the public administrator of the trains in the short route transports from Sao Paulo, with the materials and services for the maintenance of the trains. The value of the contract has a value of 9.5 million Euro and the unfolding duration of 5 years.
In double hauling there can be concomitantly transported 2,324 persons. During the week days the Siemens trains are use by almost 50,000 passengers, during the peak hours even reaching at 14,000 passengers per hour and on one direction. The CPTM network is formed of 270 km of track, 92 railway stations, in 22 districts and transports over a million passengers daily.Siemens takes over at Railion Denmark the maintenance of the EG 3100 locomotives
Siemens Transportation Systems (TS) has taken over since January 2003, the complete maintenance of the 13 locomotives of EG 31000 from Railion Denmark. A particularity of the contract is the "Mobile Service", which makes possible small repairs also outside the borders of Denmark for the locomotives used in the international freight traffic.![]()
"Mobile Service" for EG 3100, a multi-system locomotive with six axles from Siemens is part of the EuroSprinter family of the second generation, covers the freight transport of Railion Denmark from Denmark, as well as from Denmark to Sweden, and to Germany. For Railion Denmark this service, offered by Siemens TS together with various partners, offers a greater flexibility and the availability of the fleet.
The contract with Railion Denmark, having a value of 7.5 million Euro, has been signed on September 2002, in Berlin. Railion Denmark is a national Danish company of the Railion Consortium, which, together with DB Cargo and Railion Benelux, represent the biggest tenderer for freight transport on railways.Exactly at a year after the signing of the contract of 2.5 million Euro, in Great Britain, Stagecoach Angel Trains and Siemens present the first Desiro UK for South West Trains
The administration of the British railways Stagecoach Group, the Leasing Company Angel Trains and Siemens Transportation Systems (TS) have presented to the public - in the Siemens testing center for vehicles on tracks Wegberg - Wildernrath - the first Desiro for England. The vehicles are stipulated to be implemented in the South West Trains network, in the southern part of London. TS will deliver to the Great Britain 1200 wagons of the modular Desiro design. Having a total volume of the investment of almost 2.5 billion Euro, we refer to the biggest contract up to the present time from the history of TS.
