Our Feminine Handball Players,
National Champions!
After a long expectation of…36 years, the feminine handball team Rapid CFR Bucharest has succeed to win the first place in the National League, the railway handball players finishing in force a season that they have dominated yet since the beginning. Winning in the last stage in front of CSM Sebes team (with the score of 34-25), the students of the coach Gheorghe Covaciu have been placed on the first position of the podium, at two points difference from the second place holder - Oltchim R. Valcea.
The awarding and conferment
festivity of the medals and of the T-shirts of champion took place at the
headquarters of MLPTL, in the presence of numerous personalities from the
ministry and from the railway companies, and also from the sport world, who
wanted to join these "celebrities of the Romanian handball", as the
general manager of CFR SA, Mr. Mihai Necolaiciuc was calling them.
Among the ones that have honored through their presence this manifestation we
can mention Mr. Miron Mitrea, the minister of Transports, Cristian Gatu, the
president of the Romanian Federation of Handball, Cornel Otelea, federal
coach, Nicolae Marasescu, state secretary in the Ministry of Youth and Sports,
Mihai Necolaiciuc, the general director of CFR SA and the president of the
Feminine Handball Foundation Rapid CFR Bucharest, George Copos, the main
shareholder of the football team from Giulesti, as well as many personalities
from the railway world.
"It is a happy occasion for the Romanian Federation of Handball that the
feminine handball team Rapid CFR Bucharest has succeeded, after 36 years, to
bring the cup in Bucharest. A performance that the Handball players from
Bucharest are enjoying very much. An edition of the National League of
Feminine Handball has been concluded, much more acrimonious than we knew it;
an edition that has geared to a beautiful fight five very strong teams, among
which Rapid CFR Bucharest has categorically detached during the entire stage.
Concomitantly, I am assigned on behalf of the federation's representatives to
appreciate not only the effort of the sportswomen who are activating under the
white-cherry red colors, and also the support granted them from the club, as
well as from the representatives of this ministry," Mr. Cristian Gatu
has
declared. As a sign of gratitude for the efforts made in order to sustain the
team, he has handed, on behalf of the federation, a board to Mr. Miron Mitrea
and to Mr. Mihai Necolaciuc, the president of the Foundation Rapid CFR
Bucharest, as well as excellency
diplomas to the ones that have been on the
technical bench. And, of course, the most wanted trophy, to the feminine
handball team Rapid CFR Bucharest.
On his turn, Mr. Miron Mitrea, the minister, wanted to specify that
"without the work and the sustained efforts of these wonderful
sportswomen the trophy would not be here in front of us. I did nothing more
that to ask the score after each stage… by all means, next to the work of
the entire team, and the ones that have managed from the technical bench, we
could not miss mentioning the support of Mr. Mihai Necolaiciuc, the president,
who wanted so much the team to get on the first step of the podium".
As a completion, and also as
a commitment for the future, Mr. Mihai Necolaiciuc, the general director, the
most bitter supporter of the railway team, was telling: "I hope that the
next season will bring us new reasons of joy, by reediting the performances of
the current year, as well as by qualifying ourselves on the first places in
the European Cups".
What the handball players and their coach, Ghoerghe Covaciu, wished for the
future? To make " the same inspired move at the world championship".
Fact that, we - and, by all means, each supporter of theirs - wish to come
true!
The prize award festivity has been concluded when the components of the team,
visibly touched, together with their coach Gheorghe Covaciu, have clashed a
cup of champagne with each supporter.
