Interview with Mr. Genu APOSTOL Manager of the CFR Iasi
Rail Journal: What personal qualities do you think that contributed to your nomination in this position?
Genu Apostol: I think I have been chosen for this position because of the professional achievements in the installation field as for example: capital repairing from the Suceava, Dolhasca, Itesti, Iacobeni, Mestecanis stations, SAT devices installation on route Prisaca Dornei-Campulung East. I can also admit that I succeeded in completing the work on the established terms, without any delay no so ever and in complete safety traffic and superior quality conditions.
RJ: What means for you this position and what were the first decisions you made?
GA: My new position means a totally engagement in the infrastructure activity and the efficient solutions for the problems of the CFR Iasi railway Department. The decisions I made immediately after my appointing in this position were in consent with the line traced by the General Manager of the CFR-SA Company, as for example: a well- disciplined direction in the safety traffic field, improving working conditions for the personnel and the rail stations' modernizing process for the districts belonging with the CFR Iasi Department. I would like to point out an element that differentiates the CFR Iasi Department from all the other departments of the Company: complete sanitary process in all the rail-stations from the patrimony. I underline the fact that the policy of our department in order to increase the safety level on our railways, implies also, on the one hand the improvement of the rail-track repairing and maintaining works, installation procedures, and on the other hand the adapting to some modern solutions in the railway infrastructure field.
RJ: What projects are you working on at the moment and what are your plans for the future?
GA: One of our goals is represented by the rehabilitation of the rail infrastructure, as it is also for all the other CFR Districts. This process consists of performing maintenance workings in accordance with the necessary parameters imposed by the traffic intensity and also by the rail and equipment wearing time. But also by maintaining an acceptable program of the necessary capital repairing volume so that there should be no delay, covering thus all possible degradation of the infrastructure. So, for us, the long-term priorities are connected to the current and capital repairing process as well as to the investment program at the electrification of the Tecuci-Iasi route. Presently, we are working at the modernization of the following rail-stations: Iasi, Suceava, Vaslui, Bacau, Botosani, Radauti and Vatra
Dornei. Our personnel will activate to finalise the current and capital repairing works and also to modernize different rail stations; these are problems that will be always a priority for us. We wish we could bring, by our contribution on the infrastructure level, the Romanian rail station to the European standards. In the same time, the Iasi Railway Department's activity will be based in the future on the comfort improvement for the travelers. With the help of the CFR-SA, we hope we will change the actual traffic guiding system, realised through old CED installations, by replacing them with modern systems based on calculus technique or by providing new and efficient devices improving the working productivity and of course insuring the highest traffic standards.
RJ: How do you see your future activity in this new position?
GA: I would like to work together like a team, in other words, the entire personnel in managerial positions, with power of decision should cooperate and involve totally in the railway activity.
