Ministry of transport initiates starting with the 15th of August 2000, a Program of quality improvement of the railway transport services. Structured in two stages, the program has as objective the insuring improved services offered to the beneficiaries of the personae and freight transportation, by upgrading the professional training level for the entire personnel of the railway network.
Within the first stage of this process, the railway personnel in managerial positions, the controllers and the instructors as well as the personnel contributing to the trains' safety traffic will be professionally re-examined until the 15th of September this year. During the second stage, depending on the obtained results, there will be organised tests in view of a better professional training.Working Agenda in Iran
The 12-15 August 2000, some representatives of the Ministry of Transport led by the Minister of transport, Miss anca Boiagiu, paid an official visit in the Islamic Republic of Iran.
During this visit, our Minister of Transport, Anca boiagiu, met some of the most important officials from Iran as the Minister of the Roads and Transport, Mr. Mahmovd Hojjati, prime- vice president of the Republi, Mr. Hassan Ebrahim Habibi, minister of Industry, Mr Golam Reza Shafeei, External Ministry Chief Deputy for Europe and America, Mr Morteza Sarmadi, and the president of the Economic Commission of Majilis, Mr. Reza Abdullahi.
Two agreements between Romania and Iran have been signed, having as object the flying and maritime-commercial transportation; also a Memorandum that stipulates the collaboration between the two countries concerning the transport field.
They have decided on the opening of the Theheran-Bucharest flying route; concerning the maritime transport field, both countries have decided that from now on, within the Professional improvement Centre from Constanta, they will train maritime and harbour exploiting personnel. They discussed upon the possibility of repairing and constructing Iranian ships in the Romanian harbours and also about the improvement of the ferryboat link Constanta-samsun/poti and Ro-Ro on the Black Sea. There have been underlined the advantages of using the harbour facilities as well as the free zones in the Constanta Harbour for the Iranian merchandise entering the Central and East European markets, as well as for the Romanian merchandise entering the Asian and Middle Oriental markets through Iranian harbours.
Regarding the railway transportation, there have been concluded the details concerning the engine leasing contract in the Islamic Republic of Iran. It have been thus decided that the number of engines stipulates in the contract should be increased with other 10 engines, that are to be delivered until the end of October, this year. The proposition of having repaired in Romania a number of 100 Iranian engines made by General Motors and also the modernisation of engines operating the Tabriz-Djulfa route, have been accepted.
On the road transport level, there has been decided that the representatives of the International Road Transport Professional Associations from both countries should meet annually, changing useful information about the latest laws and rules in the field.
Coming back, Anca Boiagiu declared that the visit in Iran marked the revitalisation of the political and economical relations between the two countries.
This visit revealed the possibility of continuation of the economical exchange in the tractors ships and engines repairing field, cement production as well as a taking over of the traditional Romanian -Iranian relationship concerning oil exploitation.Silvia Mitulescu
