A MAN FOR WHOM THE RAILWAY IS A WAY OF LIFE
Iulian Tudosie was born in 1929, in the Cosovenii de Sus village, Dolj county. Because of the material shortage, he quits the industrial high school in Craiova and in 1946 starts working at the Piatra Olt Depot. Later, after graduating high school, he joins the Mechanics Department - Locomotives Section, at the Bucharest railways Institute, and graduates as an engineer in 1957. He worked hands-on and then took engineering positions at the Craiova Locomotive depot; later, at the Piatra Olt Depot, he was already part of the management: depot deputy head and then depot head (1959 - 1962). He gradually passed through all stages of the engineering profession:
- service head and division head at the Craiova regional railway company (December 1, 1962 - July 1, 1973);
- director general of the General Traction and Carriages Department within the Railways Department (1973 - 1976);
- director general of the Brasov regional railways company (April 1, 1976 - April 18, 1978).
In 1978, appointed deputy to the minister of transportation and telecommunications, on railway matters, and then, in 1984, becomes first deputy to the minister and head of the Railways Department, until April 1, 1991.
During his 13-year-long mandate, new railway lines were built (Turceni - Dragotesti, Pascani - Targu Neamt, Deva - Brad, and the coal lines in the Oltenia Basin), electrification was added to the Ploiesti - Adjud, Bucharest - Constanta, Rosiori - Craiova - Pascani - Iasi, Pascani - Targu Neamt lines, and mechanical depots were commissioned in Adjud, Oradea, Arad, Suceava, Caransebes, Videle and Socola.
On April 1, 1991, after 44 years of work for the Romanian Railways, Iulian Tudosie retired.
For a man used to work from daybreak till late night, being a pensioner only meant more free time for the passion of his life: the Rapid Club. Ever since his time as head of the Railways Department, Iulian Tudosie had significant contributions to the modernization of the Rapid complex. His passion for sports originates from his student years, a period when he worked with great sportsmen, Rapid players, including rugby players Rusu and Stanescu, or volleyball players Nicolau and Crivat, members of Romania's golden teams.
Since 1993, when the football team became UFC Rapid, Iulian Tudosie has become, through his work and devotion, an irreplaceable person that helps to manage, develop and modernize the Rapid Complex, especially the stadium. Day by day, Iulian Tudosie is at the Club in Giulesti, where his entire work is to ensure that, when Rapid plays "on home ground", everything goes as planned: the footballers will play with pleasure, and the public will have a good time, and encourage their favorite team.Silvia Mitulescu
