THE REGIONAL PASSENGER AGENCY TIMISOARA

The Regional Passenger Agency Timisoara operates within the National Company of Passenger Railway Transport, disposing of 3,968 employees, specialized in the following branches: commerce, traction and wagons.

The representative units of the RPA Timisoara are: the North Station Timisoara, the Travel Agency Timisoara, the Wagon Revision Timisoara and the Locomotives Depot Timisoara. The North Station Timisoara

  1. The North Station Timisoara is the nearest railway junction to the Western part of the country. Through the 88 pairs of trains which arrive and depart daily from the station, the links with the largest town of the country are ensured. In order to issue travel licenses nine 2nd class counters, one 1st class counter and one visa counter are operational and also issue tickets for the international traffic. The correct and punctual information of the travelling public is accomplished through modern systems, by electronic display boards both in the corridors of the booking offices and on the platforms.

  3. The Travel Agency Timisoara located in the center of the town, at 2 Piata Victoriei ensures the serving of the travelling public with travel licenses for the local and international traffic. By implementing the new booking system EPA KURS ’90, clients may obtain information and bookings for any required route in Europe. The issuance of travel licenses in international traffic is performed electronically with the help of two computers in the endowment of the specialized booking offices.

Within the Agency there are four counters for international traffic, six for local traffic, one counter for licenses, as well as an information office where one can inquire about the travel facilities for domestic and international traffic. In the corridor of the Agency are posted display boards with the schedule of the trains, as well as the practiced tariffs.

  5. The Wagon Revision Timisoara is the largest maintenance and repair unit of passenger wagons within RPA Timisoara. The activity is performed within a perimeter which includes: the North Station Timisoara, two technical preparation groups, the line for the radical technical and sanitary preparation, respectively the repair lines with detachment, together with the workshops related to the performed activities.The Wagon Revision Timisoara The unit ensures daily the circulation of 218 passenger wagons through the own park, as follows:

These passenger wagons compose in total 30 trains which link Timisoara to other important towns of the country, such as: Bucharest, Iasi, Botosani, Cluj, Sighetul Marmatiei, Baia Mare, Craiova, Arad, etc. and in summer Mangalia and Eforie Sud.
The main scope of the revisions is to finalize the extending and modernization works of the control and pre-heating station for trains, the outfit of the technical groups with modern sanitation means and last, but not least, the setting into operation of certain high capacity machines for the maintenance of the equipment in the inventory of the wagons – curtains, covers, carpets, etc.

  1. The Passenger Locomotive Depot Timisoara set up in 1857 is 142 years old and serves the area with the densest railway network in the country. The Passenger Locomotive Depot TimisoaraThis has imposed the endowment of the depot to keep updated with the evolution of modern technology for the exploitation of rolling material on the railways. Thus, within the Depot Timisoara there are 15 electric locomotives which run at an increased speed (Speed max = 160 km/h), one electronic scale for the control and balancing of the load on the axis of the locomotives, three revision channels equipped with installations for the lifting of the locomotives from the bogies, a rolling bridge and 2 rotating platforms for the introduction and taking out of the locomotives from the revision. Also within the depot are carried out activities of maintenance and repair of a locomotive park which comprises 16 LDE (electric Diesel locomotives ), 11 WITs (wagons for the heating of the train), 39 LDHs (hydraulic Diesel locomotives), 19 ATMs (auto-engines), ensuring at the same time the trailing of the passenger trains on the following sections:

We must specify that in the present a new program, in the ORACLE language is experimented for the monitoring of the route charts.
The personnel of RPA Timisoara is permanently concerned with the increase of the comfort degree in the passenger trains and with the ensuring of travelling conditions at the level of the European requirements.
