Dutch-Romanian cooperation
in the field of transports

At the head office of the Transport Ministry took place on 6 April this year the meeting between Mr. Traian Basescu, the Transport Minister from our country and Mrs. Tineke Netelenbos, the Minister of Transports, Public Arrangements and Water Administration from the Netherlands

The meeting of the two ministers had as a main scope the identification of the suitable methods to continue the cooperation between the two ministries to the benefit of the two countries, both in the field of transports and other related sectors.

The following were signed on this occasion:

The common declaration regarding the Program of bilateral cooperation between the Transport Minister from Romania and the Minister of Transport, Public Arrangements and Water Administration from the Kingdom of the Netherlands;

The Letter of Intention for the cooperation between the two countries in the field of safety for the railway traffic;

The Memorandum for agreement in regard to the information exchange connection to vehicles through the EUCARIS system.

In the Common Declaration were highlighted the fields for cooperation in the future:

sector of land transport;

transport on domestic river routes;

air transport.

This meeting represented a favorable opportunity for the members of the delegations from the two countries to know each other better and draw up point by point the cooperation plans.

The Common Declaration comprises the cooperation methods and forms:

the information exchange;

the exchange of visits of specialized delegations, but also of individual experts, on basis of the mutual agreement;

the possibility to train delegations and experts in order to support the organization of a modern regional center for training in the field of aviation in Romania;

the exchange of magazines, analysis, publications and information regarding the congresses and reunions organized by the two parties;

the training of specialists and management personnel in the field of land transport in order to contribute at achieving the objectives of integration in the European Union on basis of the mutual agreement.

In order to accomplish the scope of the Common Declaration, the representatives of the two ministries proposed themselves to encourage contacts between the institutions and organization from the field of transport and related sectors from the two countries.
