New and modern wagons
destined to the international traffic
The National Company for Railway Transport of Goods has drawn up a rehabilitation program for the wagon park, which was taken over from the former SNCFR.
The program comprises three elements:
The rehabilitation program of the park for goods wagons based on external financing.
The modernization of 750 goods wagons from the series Gbs, Gags, Rs and Rmms is developed now. As it is financially supported by the European Reconstruction and Development Bank (BERD), the program is executed by the companies Technirail SA Belgium and Romvag SA Caracal as the result of contracts concluded last year with a total value of ECU 26 million.
This program comprises:
The goods wagons of average capacity allow the easy and fast loading in a palletized and mechanic system of the goods with a large volume in report to the specific weight and which need protection against the atmospheric conditions.
There is also planned to replace the walls and side doors of the wagons with sliding walls from aluminum which allow the opening on both sides of the wagons, on half their length. Benefic would also be the interior dividing of the wagons into compartments by assembling dividing collapsible walls, which can be sealed, making it possible that several beneficiaries use the wagon .
From the technical point of view, the replacing of the assembled axes with wheels of a 1.00 diameter, mono-block wheels of 920 mm diameter unified on European plan, represent important improvements.
After the modernization works, the box of the wagons will be fully replaced and the chassis will be consolidated. The rolling slide doors will be made from light alloys and provided with a more efficient system for rolling and locking. These improvements will allow the transport of a larger volume of goods, palletized or wrapped in sacks and of valuable goods (electronic devices, goods of large consume, etc.) under safe conditions. From the technical point of view, the reliability of the bogies will be increased and the interval between two planned repairs will be increased.
Platform wagons of the Rs series shall be covered with a mobile cover from reinforced plastic material which can be removed (folded) on the entire length of the wagon, allowing the mechanic loading and unloading of the goods. Through these improvements is ensured the facilitating of the transport of heavy goods, of large length or volume (special laminates, different utilities, engines, etc.) which need protection against the atmospheric agents and robbery.
The wagons of the Rmms series shall be arranged by assembling some special supports for the transport of tin rolls. They shall be endowed with mobile covers and with a new type of bogie Y 25 Ls, bearing a load on the axes of 22.5 t, obtaining thus an additional loading capacity.
Modernized wagons are destined especially to the international goods transport, meeting the latest requirements in the field. Through the brought modifications will be considerably increased the annual route and implicitly their efficiency.
The program for the improvement of the technical features of the goods wagons so that they run after 31 December 1999 according to the requirements of R.I.V. (International Regulation of Goods Wagons).
The wagons existing in the park of CFR Goods may run in international traffic if they fulfil the new technical requirements, specified in the regulations R.I.V. of the year 1998. Consequently, within the company is carried out a program of improving the accessories on the wagons and the features for the breaks, rolling, buffer-tying. These modifications will be specified for each type of goods wagon, in the terms of supply for the planned repairs (RP and RK), corresponding to the year 1999.
The draft for the program of endowing with new goods wagons.
The wagons existing in the park of CFR Goods may run under the regime of S circulation, with a maximum speed of 100 km/h and some may run under SS regime, only empty (in the country), with 120 km/h. In the first stage is stipulated the modernization of the platform wagon Rgs and Ks with the purpose of being able to run under SS regime with 120 km/h. In this stage will be also finalized at Astra Arad the prototypes of the goods wagons code ZDL and ZCR for the transport of trucks and containers which will be able to run with 120 km/h.
In the second stage shall be also included the manufacturing of goods wagons with the load on the axes of 22.5 t, able to run with 120 km/h, in the variant of using sabots from plastic material of the K type. After the year 2000 shall be also put in practice the draft for the manufacturing of goods wagons of high speed, of over 120 km/h.
