The Regional Passenger Agency Brasov (AZC Brasov) operates within SNTCF “CFR Passengers” SA, disposing of 3,105 employees who are specialized in the commercial branches traction and wagons. The representative units of the agencies are: the Railway Station Brasov Passengers, the travel Agency Brasov, the Wagon Revision and the Passenger Locomotives Shunting Yard Brasov.

In order to describe the image of these units, we shall present some aspects related to the development of the activity within the passenger traffic.

The Station Brasov Passengers, one of the largest railway junctions in the country allows through its favorable geographical position to ensure the links with the majority of towns in the country. The activity of passenger trains’ arrival and departure is carried out on lines 1-7.The Railway Station Brasov Passengers

For the issuance of travel licenses there operate within the station one 1st class counter, eight 2nd class counters, one 1st and 2nd class counter and a counter for licenses.

The passenger public may be informed upon the schedule, traffic directions and composition of the trains by consulting the boards placed in the halls of the booking offices, as well as the monitors placed in the waiting rooms.

The Travel Agency Brasov, situated in the center of the town, ensures through the eight counters the service of the passenger public with travel licenses in the local and international traffic. In order to satisfy the demands of the passenger public, the booking system EPA KURS’ 90 was implemented, by which clients may obtain reservations in the international traffic for any requested route and for a better efficiency of the activity of issuing tickets, three computers were purchased.

 

The Wagon Revision

Brasov

In the structure of AZC Brasov operate five revisions for the operating and maintenance of passenger wagons, from which the most important one is the Wagon Revision Brasov. The geographical position of this unit imposes a complex activity: 25 trains prepared on composition, 20 revised goods trains and 32 trains formed by other regional passenger agencies and revised in transit.

The diversity of the wagons park allows the ensuring of the trains according to the train route certificates, aiming also at the comfort of the passengers.

The express train Brasovia which runs permanently on the route Brasov-Constanta, appreciated as a model by the passenger public is composed of a saloon wagon outfitted with air condition, as well as a restaurant wagon, served by highly qualified personnel.The Wagon Revision Brasov

The working conditions created for the execution personnel are special ones. In the technical group for the preparation of the trains, lightening is ensured with the help of the installation built through the own efforts and on the pillars with spotlights were assembled cassettes endowed with plugs of 380 V and 220 V for micro-mechanization and sanitation devices. All access roads are also arranged so as to allow the usage of different transport means along the lines, such as: electronic auto-stapler, etc.

 

The Locomotive Depot Brasov

Within this unit is maintained, repaired and prepared for the road the own entire electric locomotive park (60 LE and 10 LDH), as well as the LDH park related to the trailing departments:

Besides the current repair activity aggregated by locomotives (hydraulic transmission, reversor reduction gear, turbo-blower, axes attacks), is also executed the activity of RR at electrical locomotives. The Depot Brasov is the only unit of this type within SNTFC which performs such repairs.

The safety of the traffic on the railways is maintained by the operating works performed by the personnel of the depot. Thus, at the beginning of the year was purchased from the company Hegenscheidt an underground lathe for the lathing of the locomotive and wagon bandages. This efficient and very modern installation of the 106 type has for the command a (electronic) CMC type device through which the four profile types may be chosen (two for the locomotives and two for the wagons). Through this command device of th4e CNC type may be also performed complete measurements of the bandages and the eventually occurred malfunctions are displayed. The level of noise and vibrations of this lathe is much reduced in comparison to others of the same type and at the moment it is the most modern on European plan.

AZC Brasov holds within SELC Sibiu (Operating Department of Passenger Locomotives) an interesting museum of steam engines and many of the exhibits are still functioning. The museum has nowadays got 34 exhibits, which represent almost all series of steam engines that ran on the CFR lines. Among the most representative ones we can mention two locomotives manufactured in Austria in 1884, respectively 1896, series 389,001 and 389,002; they are part of the category of the oldest steam locomotives of narrow rail that ran in Transylvania. Then more modern locomotives are also present through the series 324,915; 400,004; 230,000; 150,000; 142,000 and of course 50,000. In the museum are also exhibited one crane and two snow ploughs, all operated by steam.

Another aspect that may be underlined within AZC Brasov is the entertainment transport by old trains. They are composed of one steam engine, two class wagons and one luggage wagon where a railway exhibition is arranged, a bar, as well as a saloon wagon with a special atmosphere. Routes are chosen according to the demands of the different travel agencies.

The main objectives of AZC Brasov aim especially at a better service of the passenger traffic, the comfort of the passenger wagons, the regularity and safety of the traffic.
