These subsidiaries operate as joint stock companies and CFR Goods is the only shareholder. They may privatize under the conditions of the law and CFR Goods may keep the majority share parcel.

The Company of Washing Stations for Goods Wagons of General Use CFR SSVM – SA has the head office in Bucharest, str. Marmurei f.n. (in the precincts of the washing station Bucharest – Triaj), district 1.

Through the article of association published in the Official Gazette of Romania no. 8/1999, the object of activity of CFR SSVM mainly comprises:

• washing and disinfecting, as the case may be, of the goods wagons for general use;
• activities connected or ancillary to the railway transport of goods, such as: repairs and other service rendering directly or indirectly connected to the activity of CFR SSVM;
• the washing of car means;
• the capitalization of residual waste;
• the renting of spaces;
• the supply and re-supply of water, electrical and thermal energy;
• the accomplishment of social, medical, cultural, sportive activities;
• the setting up of canteens for the own personnel;
• domestic trade.

CFR SSVM disposes of a series of branches called Washing Sections for the Goods Wagons of general use: Bucharest Triaj, Piatra Olt, Timisoara, Arad, Apahida Cluj Napoca, Oradea, Brasov Triaj and Palas Constanta.

The scope of setting up these branches is that of making out of the washing of goods wagons an efficient activity. For this purpose shall be performed investments under the limits of the current possibilities in order to attract business partners. For the time being, it is intended to maintain the manufacturing rhythm at the existing level, as long as the company is still in the organization stage.

In the near future shall be performed investments for the re-modernization of the important stations. There shall be purchased from the company WOMA (Germany) washing machines under pressure that will endow for the beginning the sections within the border stations (Bucharest Triaj, Arad, Pals and Pascani).

Another project of CFR SSVM is the building till autumn of a washing platform for the TIR trucks in Arad.

Although it can be said that the company for washing goods wagons has nothing to do with the TIR trucks, still this type of platform represents an important investment for the future. It shall not bring immediately a major profit, but it benefits of some important advantages: is it located near the railways and the investment itself is minor for the beginning, as the infrastructure already exists. Taking into account the fact that there is no other platform of this kind in the country, the profit will soon appear. According to all current tendencies of reducing pollution from all activities and as it is known that the TIR trucks carry very different goods, they need a special cleaning of the containers, after each road.

They also wish to replace the washing substances used up to now (formol, sodium hydroxide) with detergents, which pollute chemically less. A contract will be soon concluded with a domestic supplier for this purpose.

A last objective for 1999 is the implementation of certain decanting and neutralizing filters in order to diminish the pollution of the environment.

CFR SSVA-SA has the head office in Ploiesti, str. Ghighiului no. 51, Prahova county. The object of activity of the new company comprises mainly:

• the washing of tank wagons;
• activities related or ancillary to railway transport of goods, such as: repairs or other service rendering directly or indirectly connected to the activity of CFR SSVAC;
• the washing of cars;
• the rental of spaces;
• the supply and re-supply of water, electrical and thermal energy;
• the accomplishment of social, medical, cultural, sportive activities, the setting up of canteens for the own personnel;
• domestic trade.

In order to accomplish the object of activity, the company disposes of the following outfit:

• a scaffold with 22 washing stations, placed on two rows;
• flexible coupling, access system to the loading points of the tanks;
• washing technologies patented by ISPCF, which is based on steam under the pressure of 10 atmosphere and the temperature of 200 ° C, as well as chemical agents for the dissolving of petrol products (sodium hydroxide).

The tariffs for washing are established according to the tanks’ degree of uncleanness, their capacity, as well as the type of carried goods:

• white products (gas, white spirits, etc.);
• diesel oil;
• black products (petrol, fuel oil, bitumen, etc.);
• molasses;
• food products (especially sunflower oil).

The company intends to perform services by using advanced technologies, based on washing with heads of rotative spurt and pressure of hot water, eliminating thus chemical products.

By using such technologies, both the quantity of thermal agent and chemical products and the consume of electrical energy shall diminish, reducing thus expenses.

The quality of washing the tanks (wagons or cars) is guaranteed, releasing also the clients on request a quality certificate of the washing or a de-gasing certificate for the cases when for the recipients is necessary the subsequent intervention with welding.

Liquid petrol waste resulting after the washing of the tanks is collected in special basins and it is capitalized by companies with such an object of activity and they may ensure the distribution.

SC CFR SSVAG-SA can also ensure the washing of large materials, having a washing stations which is correspondingly endowed.
