Thoughts at the Closure of the Year…

Mihai Necolaiciuc, the general manager of CFR SA:" The year 2001 has represented for the Romanian railways a year of changing, as well as a new beginning. The changes have been necessary, even compulsory. We all know, the Romanian reality is in a continuous transformation, which also involves the Railways, a vital sector for the national economy. But year 2001 represents, as I was saying, also a new beginning. Due to the fact that this year we have started the large programs that are going to transform the Romanian Railways in a viable component and, we hope, a vital one - of the great European railway transport system. And, in the same time, this program is going to offer it the attributes of the modernity, of the compatibility with the new century.
This was, per assembly, year 2001. A way opening, I could call it. And in order to consider our steps on this way to be as safe as possible, more firm, it is necessary that everyone serving the railway to mobilize, to make a glory title from their contribution to build a solid foundation for our future accomplishments. And, through them, the Romanian Railways have to maintain further on and forever as a title of glory its fame as "the second army of the country".
A Happy and Full of Accomplishments New Year, dear railway colleagues!

Ion Selaru, the state secretary in charge with transports matters, MLPTL: "For the Holidays I wish to the railway personnel health, to eat together with their families the pork that we tried to give them in time, and 2002 to be a better year. We are hoping so".

Vasile Olievschi the general manager of DGRCSTF, MLPTL: "For the railway sector it is probable that year 2002 to be pointed out by increased efforts in the European integration process. The negotiation file of the integration of Romania is almost completed. We would like that railway transport to be one of the first important sectors of the Romanian economy that is concluding the negotiations with EU, we would like to prove that we are perfectly compatible, juridical and also institutional, with European Union requirements. What we have to do later on represents the concern for the level of the service quality by intensifying the measures, so that, until 2007, which is the year of the integration, to reach the level of the requirements imposed by the integration. Or, this means that the modernization programs - especially in point of passengers' coaches, where the qualitative leap are visible for the public and also in point of the infrastructure - has to become reality.
We hope that the next year to see operating on our railway network at least 10 new trains, only with modern coaches, and the most part of Bucharest - Campina section, on Corridor IV, to be finalized".

Vasile Tulbure, the general manager of CFR Marfa SA: "For the new year we would like, first of all, to have serious partners in freight transport, we want to continue the modernization program of the locomotives and wagons. We also propose to ourselves to make more significant steps in point of the improvement of the working conditions for the personnel within our company. With respect to the privatization of CFR Marfa, which is an interesting subject and also attractive enough, we will see the strategy for year 2002 approved by the Ministry of Transports for the unfolding of this important and challenging program.
On the occasion of winter Holidays I wish to all railway personnel in Romania and to CFR Marfa personnel first of all: A Better and a Healthy New Year. Happy New Year!"

Valentin Bota, the general manager of CFR Calatori SA: "I wish to the employees of the National Company of Passengers Railway Transport a better new year than the one we are ready to conclude, health and successes in everything they do! 2001, although a tough year, brought us finally positive results. We can talk about achievements, but we have to say that we focus on starting new important projects, which, we consider that it represents the premise of some major future accomplishments. The image of the company has probably suffered in point of our clients due to the fact that we have increased the prices of the travelling tickets. But, pursuant to an analysis on European plan, the statistics show that we still are one of the cheapest railways in Europe. We also thought to find a balance between travelling cheap and travelling by a modern rolling stock. We consider that through this rearranging we will succeed to operate on the Railways in a civilized way and as cheap as possible.'

Ioan Mihaila, the general manager of SAAF SA: "First of all I would like to thank for the activity developed in year 2001 to the former team within CFR SA, and also to the current employees of the new company where I am assigned presently, namely SAAF SA. I would like to thank them for working hard and for their dedication. And for the new year I would like to wish them better results in their activity, a lot of heath to them and to their families, too, to be happy, all their wishes to come true, and I would also like to address them the traditional Happy New Year! With respect to the future of SAAF, we will make it ourselves, together, during year 2002."

Viorica Olaeru, financial director within CFR SA: "I wish to my dear colleagues, the railway personnel, a richer year in accomplishments. I hope year 2002 to be a better one from the financial point of view, because the year that is almost ready was a tough one, for all of us, with a pretty restraint budget, which forced us to approach certain constraints in order to fit into the allocated amounts. I think that in year 2002 we will need more understanding from the employees, the success of the company depending on it.
Happy New Year, dear colleagues!"

Lucian Blaga, the general inspector of RGSCC CFR SA: "For year 2002, to all my employees and to my collaborators, first of all I wish to be healthy, because this is the condition to be able to develop more efficiently their activity. And this is obvious through the decrease of the number of the railway events. I would like that at the end of the next year to conclude the balance with fewer events in comparison with the current year. The Inspectorate does not schedule anything else than to develop its activity, to prove the professional level of the employees of the Railways and to succeed to finalize all the instructions and the regulations that we need in order to operate efficiently. I would also like to wish to my colleagues and to their families, prosperity and everything that they wish to. Happy New Year for 2002!"

Marius Diaconu, the director of Track Department CFR SA: "I would like to wish to my colleagues quiet Holidays, health and professional accomplishments up to the level of the requirements!"

Gheorghe Degeratu, the director of GEI CFR Palace: "I wish to the railway employees to have a New Year full of joy, professional and personal accomplishments according to their brave activity, that gives them the well deserved title of "the second army of the country".
Also, to the editorial house of the Railway Journal magazine - a prestigious publication in the railway field I address my most optimistic and sincere thoughts and I wish them a warm "Happy New Year!"
